'Treat game'
Mary Prior KC, handling the case, outlined the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She stated his those affected were under-privileged children who were attending a youth camp which he ran.
The man played a "sweet game" with the minors, the legal counsel stated, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and ask them to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".
She informed the proceedings the defendant had conducted this practice with the children "over an extended period", and minors had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.
She explained the man had been able to explain this repeatedly as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had concerns in summer 2025.
Mrs Prior KC continued: "In the summer" his family member had concerns about what was going on, for good reason.
"They chose" to examine in the individual's items."
The prosecutor said objects including infant oil, ointment and syringes were discovered, and his stepson contacted the law enforcement about his worries.
She said the man continued to conduct the "treat game" with six youngsters that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were everyone unwell the next day.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that stage," she stated further.
The oversight body, the police conduct office, had stated that it was examining law enforcement's management of the situation.
Mrs Prior stated the children were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so the stepson notified the authorities a second time.
She explained the man then conducted the "sweet game" in a room of five youngsters.
