Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered many other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis indicate the substance was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; investigators are currently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the event," they stated.
Local authorities announced they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the residents for details.
A senior official commented the incident rendered him without words and had to be addressed promptly.
"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on people of migrant background in five years prior.
